Nightclub Showdown – Endless Mod

This game is a modification of Nightclub Showdown by Deepnight Games. The original game was made in 24 hours for Ludum Dare 41. This mod is an attempt to turn it into a full fleshed-out game. Feel free to check out and support the original creator!

Shoot down the enemies while avoiding getting hit. Between actions, the game will move to slow motion – think fast! Upgrade your character between waves. How far can you make it to wave 20 (or even more)?

Controls

  • Click on enemies to shoot them
  • Click on yourself to reload/wait. Watch your bullets!
  • Click on any spot to walk there.
  • Click below a crate to hide behind it.

More controls are unlocked with more upgrades. On touch devices, click a second time to confirm your action.

New features

Among new features this mod adds to the original game are:

  • Endless game with random encounters ad an increasing difficulty curve
  • An upgrades and rewards system, including 15 unique upgrades, 3 rewards and 1 special challenge upgrade

    • Certain abilities such as grabbing and head shots now need to be unlocked first
  • New mechanics for dashing, kicking enemies and throwing grenades

  • General improvements and bug fixes
  • Support for touch controls

Haha! When I first played Nightclub Showdown I thought to myself "huh, this has neat mechanics, it'd be nice if  someone fleshed it out".

Later I have actually started (and still am) working on my own game that was very inspired by this. I thought that some game jam game burried on itch.io was too niche for someone else to take as inspiration, and that I was at least somewhat original. WELL, I've been proven wrong!

Congratulations on this, it is funny to be surprised by someone having basically the exact same idea. Although my concept for the game was somewhat different.

Thanks! Looks like we both thought the same thing and have been proven wrong. I would love to see what other people have done with this game, don’t let me discourage you from your project!

Definitely needs some bug fixes, audio bugs out and only plays the music. Game bugs and you can't aim for headshots. Can't grab enemies like in the original.

You need to get the head shot and grab enemies upgrades first, the idea is that every run is different because you have different abilities. Tip: you need to get the kick enemies upgrade first before the grab upgrade.

As for the sound, can you please elaborate? Which device are you using? Are you playing in the browser or did you download it, and which browser/version are you using?

Ah ok, that makes sense.

I'm using a laptop, playing in browser and using Firefox

That's strange, it works fine for me. I changed something in the project settings that might have solved the issue.
